The map image used in our page banner was modified from an image file available through the GIS pages of the Arkansas Archeological Survey. Other landform images were made available by Ray Sterner of Johns Hopkins University, mainly through his Color Landform Atlas of the United States. A file carrying local family names used in the Flora of the Great Plains was provided by Ralph Brooks of the Kansas University Natural History Museum Division of Botany.

While those involved with this collaborative project receive support from their home institutions at the University of Arkansas, the North Carolina Botanical Garden, and Texas A&M University, this specific enterprise was generated with no targeted extramural support. It was initiated in December of 1995 and established as a working prototype in March of 1996. Program code use for mapping and data manipulation was either locally produced or taken from the public domain.
