Star Cactus

Star cactus is very small, flat and spineless cactus that blooms from March through May. Its flowers are yellow with orange throats. It grows in sparsely vegetated areas with saline clays or loams in the Rio Grande Plains. Although the cactus has no spines, it has some chemical compounds and clusters of short white wool that cover and protects it.
